Over 250 Sikh children and their families participated in multiple events and competitions held at Gurdwara Sahib Fremont on 06/14/2014.
Families travelled over 100 miles to participate in the day’s events. The day’s competitions included: Gurbani memorization, Parshada
competition, Gatka, Art contest, and an egg less baking competition.

Enrollment Deadline is June 11, 2014. There will not be any enrollment after the deadline. This competition is open to all boys and girls up to
19 years of age. Competition Starts at 9:00 am. All the participants are requested to arrive on time. First position winners from previous years
cannot compete in the same group.
Groups are: Group1- up to KG Group2- 1st, 2nd, 3rd grade Group3- 4th, 5th, 6th grade Group4-7th, 8th, 9th grade and
Group 5-10th grade up to 19 years of age. These groups are based on the regular school grade of year 2013-2014
Dastaar Competition guidelines:
• Participants parents or immediate relatives can not participate in the judging
• Time limit is 15 minutes and time warning will be given at 10, 13 and then 15 minutes
• No bias based on different styles, Gol vs. peaked vs, dumalla, and/or other style
• Judges will follow the following matrix
Detailed Guidelines
Parshaada Competition guidelines:
• Judges will not be present at the cooking site
• Each Participant will make only two Parshaadas and can present one for judging
• Participants will be provided with the ready to use hot pan (loh), all the required tools to make Parshaada along with dough (gujhaa attaa)
• Each participant will be assigned a participant number and that number will be marked on the parshaada plate and that pate will be sent to
off-site judges. The sheet with participant names will not be disclosed to the judges
• For the safety reason only 4th grade through below 20 years of age participants can enroll in Parshaada part of the competition
• Coordinators will take the Parshaadas on paper plates to the judges, where the judges will rank as:

Kavita Competition guidelines:
1. Participants may speak a kavita (poem) on any topic related to Sikhi
2. Each participant will have 5 minutes to perform their kavita

Sikh Art Competition NEW guidelines:
1. This year participants will create their art pieces on the spot, at the day of the event
2. There will be a designated area in which they will be provided rules and instructions on how to create their piece
3. Limited art supplies will be provided however participants are allowed to bring their own as well i.e. paints, chalk, charcoal, crayons, etc.
4. Canvas and/or paper for the art piece will be provided by the Competition Coordinators

Eggless baking guidelines:
1. The contest is open to everyone.
2. Contestants can bake one of the following items from home and bring it to Sikh Children’s Day on 6.14.14. They can enter in one or both of
the following categories
a. Cake
b. Cupcakes

There is going to be lot of fun activities for small children (Pre School and KG level)
SPECIAL PRIZES:
Along with many Competitions and events, there is also
$ 1000.00 cash prize for anyone who can recite Akal Ustat from memory (no age limit)
$ 200.00 cash prize for reciting Jaap Sahib from memory ( 6 years or younger)
$ 100.00 cash prize for reciting Japuji Sahib from memory (4 years or younger)
